De benadering van retorica is afhankelijk van welke grondlegger je aanhoudt. Maar om het bij het algemeen bekende verhaal te houden, houden we hierin de theorie van Aristoteles aan. Hij pleitte ervoor dat retorica bestaat uit drie essenti\u00eble onderdelen: <b>ethos, pathos en logos<\/b>. Wat voor mensen heb je voor je zitten? Waar gaan zij op aan? Waar hebben ze behoefte aan? Gooi je hoge ogen als spreker wanneer je op het gevoel van het publiek inspeelt \u2013 ook wel \u2018<strong>Sensus<\/strong>\u2019 genoemd \u2013 of onthouden zij beter wat je hebt verteld als je, \u00e0 la de &#8216;<strong>Intellektus&#8217;<\/strong>, vooral feiten en onderzoek deelt? Houdt jouw publiek van taligheid, woordspelingen en gevatte opmerkingen, zoals een \u2018<strong>Lingua<\/strong>\u2019? Of werkt het juist beter om je lijf in de strijd te gooien en mensen te overtuigen met jouw stem en jouw handgebaren, jouw \u2018<strong>Corpus<\/strong>\u2019? Vergeet hierin ook zeker de rol van het ontwerp van je presentatie niet, de vorm waarin je jouw informatie deelt. Ongeacht welke communicatiestijl jouw publiek hanteert, de visualisatie van jouw boodschap draagt altijd bij aan <b>memorabele informatieoverdracht<\/b>. De oude meesters van retorica bezaten slechts hun lijf en stem om hun boodschap over te brengen, maar wij beschikken inmiddels over veel meer middelen.
